I visited here twice as a perspective coin buyer / seller. The first thing I noticed was that none of the coins in the display cases had prices on them which I found very strange. I brought a few rare coins with me to see if the owner of the store would give me a price (I wasn't as much interested in selling them as much as establishing pricing and feeling out the owner). The coins I brought she looked at and gave me her opinion, although we never discussed a sale she said an 1811 half cent was in good condition and is around $50. This coin is listed at $550 in G4 condition on the PCGS website price guide. She also told me that she only deals in higher grade coins and that the coins I was showing her were not something she deals with or is interested in (they coins were in the range of good to very fine).

I decided to return two weeks later with some higher graded coins yet again with the goal of establishing pricing. This time I brought with me a handful of NGC and PCGS graded Lincoln wheat cents which were all graded MS 67 RED. I had recently purchased two 1936 D MS 67 RD wheat cents and displayed these coins to her because I only need one for my collection. Once again I was told that these coins are not something she deals with despite the fact that they are the highest graded coins of their type known to exist. This coin lists on the PCGS website in MS 67 RED at $525 and on the NGC website at $725. That said, she had no interest in them and no pricing was discussed despite my numerous attempts to obtain an offer from her for the coins either to sell or trade for coins from her collection.

I refrained from writing a review after my first experience and figured the best bet was to return with what she asked for, higher graded coins. Even with these highest known graded coins I brought in I was still unable to get prices from the dealer. The only reason I can think is that she knew I was an informed collector who knew what his coins were worth and she will only deal with customers who are less informed and vulnerable to being ripped off.

I would avoid this store at all costs. There is another coin dealer in town who has a great reputation and is always upfront and honest about the value of both coins you bring to him to sell or coins he has for sale.

Went there with a few things some gold some silver. I already went to see pete on elm st the day before And was offered 158.00. For my items. She offered me 80 bucks. When i said no thanks she said get your stupid stuff out of here.

Because once again my only goal was to establish pricing and she would not give me any prices to purchase my coins, I turned to the display case and asked her for a price on a coin. The coin was a 1938 S Lincoln Cent in MS 66 RED graded by PCGS. This coin lists on the PCGS website at $55. She gave me a price of $70. For those of you who do not know coins the list price is generally a full retail price that you would expect to pay from a dealer. Obviously as with any business they need to make money so they generally pay you 70-80% of the list value for your coins and this is where they make there profit, not by selling coins at over 25% of their listed retail value!!!

Honest and Forthright. I stopped in to sell an engagement ring, and she told me honestly what she would offer me (not much, sadly.) She recommended I keep the ring since she wouldn't give me much for it. I thought she was kind, professional, sympathetic and honest; all qualities I look for in a seller/buyer.

The person who runs the desk is insulting, cold, rude, disrespectful and has the personality of a dead fish. If it was not for the fact that it was one of the few vendors within its specified field, in pittsfield, Ma I would not go back. Find others.
